Hugo Chavez was trying desperately to drag Venezuelans to a socialist state so he could be dictator. Apparently Venezuelans were not willing to go there with him.
I’m sure the Cindy Sheehans of the world who embrace the idea of socialism openly with her Lynn Stewart-adoring comrades, is upset about this tonight…
CARACAS, Venezuela — Humbled by his first electoral defeat ever, President Hugo Chavez said Monday he may have been too ambitious in asking voters to let him stand indefinitely for re-election and endorse a huge leap to a socialist state.
“I understand and accept that the proposal I made was quite profound and intense,” he said after voters narrowly rejected the sweeping constitutional reforms by 51 percent to 49 percent.
Opposition activists were ecstatic as the results were announced shortly after midnight — with 88 percent of the vote counted, the trend was declared irreversible by elections council chief Tibisay Lucena.
Some shed tears. Others began chanting: “And now he’s going away!”
Without the overhaul, Chavez will be barred from running again in 2012.
I’m sure they’re all happy he’s going away, but they may discover, just like Hitler and other socialist/fascists, it isn’t easy to make a pinko go away…they keep coming back like a bad penny.
It is odd that this article where Hugo Chavez is so calm…reminds me of this article where Hillary Clinton is so calm. They must have the same script writers. Either that, or socialists are full of calm where the media is concerned. So full of calmness. Exuding calm, peace and tranquility and let’s just break out in a couple of choruses of ‘give peace a chance’.

Our country (the United States) is run by modern organized crime; Corporate influence. All of our Senators are multi-millionaires; where did that money come from.
Senator Clinton is no exception.
England estimates organized crime costs their citizens more than $20 Billion pounds (~40 Billion US) annually; a large part of that being politically based. The US has 1,000 times more cash flow than England; much of it hidden.
If the following could work in the US, could it work in Venezuala?
Ethical Method to Eliminate ALL Political Corruption:

Political corruption will continue until we get people in elected office who don’t want their hands greased.
As long as government is as big as it is, and growing, people will continue to believe that turning to government is the answer.
There are a lot of little precautions that need to be taken, but alas, I we are a falling republic. I don’t know of any republic in history that was able to redeem itself once the trend away from limited government started to take hold.
