Taking the Hitchens Challenge
December 9, 2007 by cao2
This article at Worldnet Daily is worth a read.
In his introduction to the new book “The Portable Atheist,” Christopher Hitchens issues his now-familiar challenge to theists: “Name me an ethical statement made or an action performed by a believer that could not have been made or performed by a non-believer.”
Tom Flannery has a reasoned response:
In the case of Christianity, if its claims are true, then the greatest moral law of all is to love the Lord God with all of one’s heart, mind and strength. That’s something an unbeliever, by self-definition, could never do. The Bible tells us that it is impossible for a person to even say “Jesus is Lord” in spirit and in truth unless the Holy Spirit is the motivating force behind it, in which case the person has already accepted God and received the Spirit.
I guess Hitchens has never thought about that.

You should get out of the darklydreamyland, Dave. It’s affecting your ability to reason.
Still wont post my comments.
What are you afraid of?
Only want comments that are in accord with your point of view?
Actually, the reason I don’t get over here that often is because this is not my main blog. I know you’re not interested in facts and would rather depict me as someone who ‘censors’ stupid leftards from commenting, but you can read why I put up this blog on the ‘about’ page.
Sure, of course, you took the time to reply to my comments but not to post them. Huh huh.
I don’t come here that often…and I’m just leaving you libtards in moderation so you can yell and scream from there. This isn’t a public park - or street - this is my blog. So try to figure out the difference and realize I don’t have to publish ANY COMMENTS AT ALL! Particularly comments that don’t add any value and are comprised of insults and ad hominem. It gets tiring…and takes up too much time, and I don’t have the time for that stupidity. Honestly. I run several blogs - I only put this one up while my main blog was down.
I’m sorry you don’t like it, LOL but that’s just the way it is.
