GOPUSA ILLINOIS urges Republican precinct committeemen/captains in Illinois to notify the Republican voters in their precincts as soon as possible who the Republicans were who were elected on April 5, 2011, and as soon as you have the results for your precinct, notify them of how many votes each of the candidates received in your precinct. For my DuPage County Milton Township Precinct 9, Republican Mike Gresk was reelected Mayor of Wheaton; Republicans Jeanne Ives and Evelyn Sanguinetti were elected to the Wheaton City Council; Republicans Phillip Luetkehans, Terry Mee, and Ray Morrill were reelected to the Wheaton Park District Board; Republicans Lewis Campbell and Tim Whelan were reelected to the DuPage Regional School Board; Republican Rosemary Swanson was reelected to the District 200 School Board; Erin Birt was elected to the College of DuPage board; and referendum to support the Wheaton Grand Theatre was defeated. Congratulations to the Republican candidates! Ives spoke at the January 15 TAPROOT breakfast meeting and Sanguinetti and Whelan spoke at the February 19 TAPROOT breakfast meeting. - Wheaton Mayor Gresk to focus on Hubble development, finances – Jenn ZimmermanWhat real leaders do – Editorial
- What real leaders do – Editorial
(FROM THE EDITORIAL: Tuesday brought a welcome blast of truth-telling among the grown-ups on Capitol Hill. House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., unveiled a politically risky proposal to curb federal deficits and pay down the national debt. As he and House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, correctly stated, America has a moral obligation to stop spending like there’s no tomorrow. In part because there is a tomorrow. This nation needs to be strong to face it and thrive.)
(DIERSEN: I was not such an optimist, I would write articles titled “Don’t become a conservative” and “Don’t become a Republican” and “Don’t become a mailman” and “Don’t become an IRS tax collector” and “Don’t become a GAO auditor” and “Don’t become a federal retiree” and “Don’t become a Republican precinct committeeman” and “Don’t become the GOPUSA Illinois Editor” and etc.)
(DIERSEN: But wait, obviously the girl and her mom a) wanted publicity and b) despised if not hated the teacher. The teacher gave the girl and her mom the publicity that they wanted, so the girl and her mom should be happy.)
(DIERSEN: Great, but how much of that is due to more lesbian activity and more oral sex and more abortions and more use of birth control?)

- OUTSTANDING: Wheaton pharmacist Glenn Kosirog wins ‘morning-after’ case – AP
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Illinois pharmacists can’t be forced to dispense emergency contraception, a judge ruled Tuesday. After a nearly six-year struggle, Sangamon County Circuit Judge John Belz said requiring pharmacists to sell the so-called morning-after pill violates state right-of-conscience law and the First Amendment. The argument is not over. The ruling promises to lead to an appeal and likely a protracted battle. Pharmacists Glenn Kosirog of Wheaton and Luke VanderBleek and the three drug stores they operate sued over the 2005 rule imposed by then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich. A circuit court originally dismissed the claim, but the state Supreme Court ruled in 2008 that a court must hear it. Francis Manion, senior counsel for the American Center for Law and Justice and the plaintiffs’ attorney, called the decision “a major victory for the rights of conscience.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: More than 160 area Republicans came together Saturday for the annual Lincoln Day Dinner at the Holiday Inn in Urbana. Following dinner, a ceremony was held to recognize local volunteers who have made significant contributions of time, talent, and energy to the party. The following honorees received were recognized for their service: State Representative Jason Barickman, Republican of the Year; Kristin Williamson, Volunteer of the Year; Larry Kearns, Active Senior of the Year; and Jason Rector, Young Republican of the Year. The event also featured keynotes from U.S. Senator Mark Kirk (R-IL) andRepublican National Committee Secretary Demetra DeMonte (an Illinois native), a welcome message from U.S. Congressman Tim Johnson (R-IL15), and a State of the Party Address from Champaign County Republican Central Committee Chairman State Representative Jason Barickman.)
QUAD CITY BUSINESS JOURNAL
(DIERSEN: In late 1988, my liberal Democrat GAO superiors pulled out all the stops to drive me out of the agency. They knew that because I had worked for IRS for almost 9 years, I could contribute more to GAO on audits of IRS. Abruptly, in late 1988, my liberal Democrat GAO superiors stopped assigning me to audits of IRS and instead, assigned me audits of the Rock Island Arsenal. To get my supervisor there to be extremely critical of my work, they promised to grant and subsequently granted his long standing request to be transferred to GAO’s Hawaii Office. During the 1980s many in GAO’s Chicago office wanted to be assigned to audits of the Rock Island Arsenal because a) they were veterans and they wanted to use what they learned while they were in the military and/or b) they preferred to be assigned to out-of-town audits. I am not a veteran and I did not prefer out-of-town audits. The first performance appraisal that I received there was so grossly unfair that I filed a grievance and sought help from my Congressman Henry Hyde. Because of Hyde’s intervention, my liberal Democrat GAO superiors backed off somewhat, but in September of 1997, they succeeded in forcing me to retire at age 49. In my opinion, my liberal Democrat GAO superiors should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for many things including deliberately and willfully wasting my GAO career, and therefore, deliberately and willfully wasting your tax dollars.)
(FROM THE ARTICLE: It’s been nearly six years since Congress approved a plan to move three white-collar agencies off the Rock Island Arsenal. And, last week, the remaining command reached a milestone when hundreds of employees had to decide whether they wanted to relocate to a Detroit suburb with a guaranteed job or stay here. Last Thursday’s decisions, along with a state of Illinois’ announcement Tuesday that it is providing a $297,000 grant to help affected TACOM workers, are the latest signs that the 2005 base closing process is approaching its final stages. . .The Pentagon recommended TACOM’s relocation in 2005 as part of a package of logistics-related moves aimed at saving the government $1.8 billion. A Government Accountability Office report three years ago said the projected savings would fall far short of original estimates and the TACOM move would yield no savings at all. Already, the local offices of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service and the Installation Management Agency have been moved.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Bullying is much more than just being picked on – in some cases, it’s committing a crime. As cell phones, social networks and technologies evolve, so do the nature and severity of bullying. Learn more about how law enforcement defines and addresses bullying problems in Wheaton’s schools by watching this video with Officer Ed Hasan, School Liaison Officer at Wheaton Warrenville South High School. In this video, Officer Hasan outlines different types of bullying and the tools the Police Department uses to address the problem. “With text messaging and all the different online social networks kids are using, bullying has become much more sophisticated than ever before,” Officer Hasan said. “I hope that watching this video will open up a dialogue between students and parents and let them know about the resources that are available.” The Wheaton Police Department encourages parents and students to check out the video to learn what is considered bullying, how it affects its victims, and what students and parents can do to address it.)

THE PATRIOT UPDATE
(FROM THE ARTICLE: In 2008, the Toronto Sun reported that “hundreds of [Greater Toronto Area] Muslim men in polygamous marriages – some with a harem of wives – are receiving welfare and social benefits for each of their spouses, thanks to the city and province, Muslim leaders say.” “Polygamy is a regular part of life for many Muslims,” Canadian Society of Muslims president Mumtaz Ali declared bluntly. “Ontario recognizes religious marriages for Muslims and others.” Welfare abuse by Muslims appears to have metastasized across the Western world. Almost three years later, news stories about radical Muslims – often immigrants – engaged in social benefits scams emerge regularly from Europe, Canada, and Australia. Even when they are not involved in fraud, Muslims frequently are overrepresented on welfare rolls, compared with other communities. The statistics from around the globe are jaw-dropping, especially in economically uncertain times. In Germany, Muslims are four times as likely to be receiving welfare as non-Muslims. However, unlike his counterpart in Sweden, Berlin’s former finance senator Thilo Sarrazin is speaking out against the benefits system and has penned a bestselling book condemning the nation’s immigration policies. Sarrazin stated while in office that welfare recipients could feed themselves on four Euros per day, adding that “losing weight is the least of their problems.” Polygamy and benefits fraud go hand in hand across the continent. Last year in France, a polygamous Muslim and father of 17 children was charged with welfare fraud when authorities discovered that “two of his companions lived in Dubai for a year while continuing to receive welfare benefits worth 10,000 Euros.” The man did not exactly have a low profile, as he made news previously when one of his wives was fined for driving while wearing a niqab that restricted her vision.)

Needless-to-say, anyone who votes illegally or who encourages people to vote illegally should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Democrats have made it very clear that a) they want to give immediate United States citizenship to anyone who will vote for Democrats and b) they blame Republicans for not being able to do so. What does that say about Democrats?)
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Congressman Gregg Harper (R-Miss., picture, left) is chairman of the House Administration Committee and he is concerned about the number of illegal aliens casting votes in elections around the country. The latest report comes from a study in which as many as 5,000 foreign nationals voted in elections held in 2010 in the state of Colorado. Gregg called the study’s findings “a disturbing wake-up call.” The findings come from a study conducted by the Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler. Gessler told the committee that his department’s investigation revealed the names of nearly 12,000 non-citizens that were registered to vote in Colorado. About 5,000 of those actually cast ballots in the 2010 elections. In that election, Democratic Senator Michael Bennet narrowly defeated Republican Ken Buck in the race to represent Colorado. As was the case in a similar discovery in New Mexico, the Colorado study cross-matched the state’s voter registration database the record of those applying for state driver’s licenses. In his testimony before the Election’s subcommittee, Secretary Gessler admitted that, “we have a problem here. We don’t know the size of it,”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The government could temporarily tap tens of billions of dollars from two federal employee retirement programs if Congress fails to raise the federal debt ceiling next month, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told lawmakers. The government expects to hit a $14.3 trillion debt ceiling on May 16 or before, Geithner said in a Monday letter. Geither implored Congress to extend the debt ceiling by that deadline and said that if Congress does not, Treasury will be forced to borrow money from the Civil Service Retirement and Disability Fund, and the Thrift Savings Plan’s Government Securities Investment Fund, or G Fund, both of which are invested in U.S. Treasury securities. Those two moves could free up $142 billion through early July. The government has taken similar steps before with no effect upon federal retirees. If the debt ceiling is extended by Congress within a couple months of the deadline, retirees and TSP participants should have nothing to worry about, several experts said. By law, both funds have to be repaid with interest, said Susan Irving, director for federal budget analysis at the Government Accountability Office. “I would anticipate no impact,” echoed Dan Adcock, legislative director for the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association.)

MONEY MANAGEMENT EXECUTIVE
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The survey, which polled 804 adults between 45 and 80 years of age, found that only 3% of retirees and 5% of those closing in on retirement have at least $1 million or more in savings and investments while a 18% and 6%, respectively, have less than $25,000 stashed away. Regardless of how much or how little the respondents have put away, all agree that the prospect of inflation and the impact it would have on their interest-gaining investments and the escalating cost of healthcare as they age and live longer are keeping them up at night. “Given the uncertainties surrounding health care delivery, it is encouraging that virtually all respondents cite pursuing a healthy lifestyle as a primary risk management strategy,” the report said. “Although it is not clear for how many this is a reality rather than an ideal.” The bigger problem for retirees who have not properly saved and invested for their retirements is that many are using whatever savings they do have to cover basic expenses — particularly healthcare expenditures — to cover the gap, further eroding the retirement income they could be generating from any number of investment products.)
CRETE-MONEE MIDDLE SCHOOL
(DIERSEN: I graduated from Crete-Monee High School in 1966. Crete-Monee Middle School is now in the building that Crete-Monee High School was in then. The clothes that you wear say more about you (AND ABOUT YOUR PARENTS?) than anything that you can say about yourself.)
(FROM THE POSTING: In order to promote a serious learning environment, clothing and make-up that are distracting, suggestive or inappropriate are prohibited. Students will dress with safety in mind and so as not to disrupt the educational atmosphere of the school. Students are expected to wear clothing that properly covers the body. Revealing clothing such as tank tops, tube/halter tops, strapless dresses, and short shorts are inappropriate and should not be worn in school. Garments that reveal underwear or exposed midriffs are prohibited. Pajamas are also not acceptable school attire. Dresses, shorts, and skirts must be finger-tip length with arms fully extended to the sides even when the student is wearing legging/tights under the skirts/shorts. Students may not wear clothing and/or accessories that are substance or violence related or offensive to any national, ethnic, religious or gender group. Clothing bearing obscene writing or promoting indecent or unacceptable behavior, whether stated or implied, will not be permitted. Studded belts, headbands, wrist bands, pocket/wallet chains, and dog collars are also inappropriate. Shoes are to be worn and laces tied at all times. House shoes/slippers and beach shoes (plastic flip-flops) are not permitted. Pants are to be worn at an appropriate level and “sagging” is not allowed. The wearing of hats and head coverings is prohibited unless students are required to do so by religious custom or medical condition. The wearing of any visible piercing, i.e. nose, eyebrow, lip or forehead ring, is also prohibited. Male students may not wear earrings at Crete-Monee Middle School. For purposes of safety, all jewelry needs to be removed during PE and standard uniforms are to be worn for daily physical education. We are not responsible for any body/ear piercing that may close. Most of the building is air-conditioned, therefore it may be wise to keep a sweater or sweatshirt in your locker to be worn in class if needed. In all cases, students wearing inappropriate items will be asked to remove or replace them. Parent contact will be made to request other clothing and to share the information.)
