Steve Milloy points out that the MD Anderson Cancer Center can’t cure cancer, so it’s blaming meat for cancer, and then trying to tell people to steer clear of meat and become a vegetarian.

The only problem with that hypothesis is that it’s unproven, and so are the recommendations. In short, there is no credible evidence that vegetarians are any healthier or experience less cancer than carnivores.

Actually, when people eat meat, they are usually omnivorous; people who eat meat are rarely carnivores. Although omnivores eat meat, they eat vegetables and fruit as as well. There are certain amino acids, however, that are present in meat that cannot be obtained food sources other than meat; that was made clear when cats that were fed catfood made of mostly cereal became blind. Cats are carnivores, people – like dogs – are omnivores. The suggestion that people should not eat meat is ridiculous. And the suggestion that people should eat meat to minimize their risk of cancer is even moreso.

I’m not going to answer it because this is not my main blog. I’m not going to answer it because the ‘science blogs’ appear to be a bunch of idiotic university professor types that don’t live in the real world, who are trying to influence public opinion by creating blogs that link to each other and commend each other’s work like Lysenko scientists would, and Ed Darrell, an active member of that community is somehow attached to the halls of academe that generate Lysenko science in today’s world.
